Humphrey, Dunigan to Oregon

by

The University of Oregon has just landed two of the top ten prospects in the state of Illinois for the class of 2008. Michael Dunigan of Chicago Farragut and Matt Humphrey of Chicago Hales Fanciscan have both offered their verbal commitment to the Pac 10 rising power.

This is the second time in three years that Oregon has struck success on the recruiting trail in Illinois. In 2005, MidStateHoops.com was the first to break the news that then Thornton star Joevan Catron was set to commit to the school.

While the commitment may be surprising to some, it appears that more Illinois prep stars are looking to head west to play their college ball. Last season fellow Hales stars and teammates of Humphrey, Jerome Randle, and JaVale McGee both headed west. Randle headed to California and McGee went to Nevada.

This presents an interesting proposition for the University of Illinois as both Dunigan and Humprey had offers from the school and Dunigan was believed to be their top post target. The chips should start to fall for many of the top targets now that schools are crossing priorities off of their lists and the players are beginning to see how they may fall into place.
