Jack Cooley of Glenbrook South has verbally committed to Notre Dame.

After a strong performance against Jordan Prosser and Eureka High School, including the game winning freethrows, Eric McCullough of Normal U-High picked up scholarship offers from IUPUI and Tennessee-Martin. In addition, Northwestern really visited one of his practices.

6’4″ Seton Academy junior Tony Nixon recently picked up an offer from Howard University.

6’8″ Richards junior Shaun Pratl picked up an offer from Indiana State.

6’0″ SIU-Edwardsville signee Kevin Stineman scored 27 points in a surprise victory over Zion-Benton.

6’9″ Eric McCullough of Normal U-High received an offer from Niagara University after they visited a team practice this past week.

After a 29 point performance against Bloomington, Decatur Eisenhower guard Lewis Jackson was hospitalized and diagnosed with pleurisy. Jackson is no longer hospitalized and doing well.

6’8″ Jordan Prosser of Eureka had a 15-point, 11-rebound performance in a win against 6’6″ Codey Funk and El Paso-Gridley.

In addition to offers from Drake and Northern Iowa, former Thornwood star Trey Blue has received scholarship offers from Colorado State, Fordham, Marshall, Montana State, Old Dominion, Santa Clara, St. Louis, and UC Riverside.

Look for Rich South sophomore Crandall Head to give a verbal commitment to University of Illinois this Sunday as the Fighting Illini take on Penn State at Assembly Hall.

Champaign Centennial guard James Kinney has received a scholarship offer from Southern Illinois. This is the junior’s third offer to date.

Isiah Nunn had a great showing at the Pekin Holiday Tournament including a 5th place consolation performance against Geneseo and Tyler Storm. Nunn poured in 28 points shooting 7-7 from the field (3-3 from the 3) and 11-11 from the charity stripe (yes, 100%). He helped Moline edge Geneseo and also earned All-Tournament honors.

Junior Tom Norton has been on a tear offensively in recent weeks. During his last three contests he’s led Bloomington Central Catholic in scoring, averaging 22 points, including a 25 point performance against Olympia where he bombed four triples in the narrow victory.

6’8″ 255 lbs Springfield Lanphier senior Ryan Connolly had a monster game against Peoria Notre Dame as he racked in 37 points and 21 rebounds as they pulled in the victory.

5’10” Chicago Leo junior James Pointer scored 53 points against Providence earlier this past week.

6’2″ Whitney Young guard Chris Colvin has picked up an offer from Gonzaga.

Former Chicago Marshall star and current Mineral Area C.C. guard Jerwin Calloway has signed with Northern Illinois.

Miami-OH has offered 6’9″ Glenbrook South junior Jack Cooley.

Pinckneyville senior Kyle Cassity is one of the more overlooked guards in the 2008 class. The 6’5″ senior already has offers from Arkansas State and UMKC.

Former Aurora West star Reggie Shipp has started every game at St. Ambrose as a true freshman. Throughout eleven games he has averaged 10.4 points and 3.4 rebounds. In addition, Lafayette Gray, who started at St. Joseph last season alongside Demetri McCamey, has started in ten games and averaged 5 points and 3.6 assists.

Lookout for Durrell Robinson of Danville Area Community College. He’s an ace recruiter who is on the rise as a coach in the college basketball world.

6’7″ Billy Rush has led South Suburban C.C. to a 9-0 record. The former Thornridge star has been offered scholarships by Kent State, South Florida, UC-Santa Barbara, Valparaiso, and Wisconsin.

6’5″ Champaign Central guard Donald Stewart has been playing at a very high level this season.  The versatile senior is averaging over 20 points (leading scorer) for a strong Central squad who already has a victory of Benedictine who features North Carolina signee, Ed Davis.

6’3″ Southern Illinois-Edwardsville signee Aaron Garriott has had a tremendous start to his senior season.  Averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds per contest, he’s led a new Bloomington Central Catholic squad to a 4-1 record, including a win over Bloomington in their first game of the year.

6’10” Mike Dunigan of Chicago Farragut scored 19 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in their opening game against Chicago Washington which they won by 17.

Fenwick senior John Comfort has committed to Princeton University.  The 6’6″ wing is one of the more overlooked players throughout the state.

Aurora West Forward to Quincy University

Tyler Thompson, a 6’5” forward from Aurora West High School, gave a verbal commitment to Quincy University last night.

Thompson, a three year varsity performer, played a very big role in the success of Aurora’s 2005-06 state tournament run.  He’s a strong forward that rebounds well and plays very hard.  He’s also very successful in the classroom.

Tyler is the eighth member of the Illinois Wolves 2008 team to commit to a collegiate program.

QU is a very respectable Division II institution.  Last season they picked up 6’5″ sharpshooter and Division I prospect Josh Edmonds of Peoria Notre Dame.

6’10” Trey McCorkle of Bismarck-Henning recently took a visit to IPFW.  During the visit, head coach Dane Fife offered a scholarship.

Anticipate 6’3″ Rich South sophomore Crandall Head to give a verbal commitment to University of Illinois Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

6’5″ Homewood-Flossmoor senior Supo Sanni has opted to play football on the collegiate level instead of basketball.  He has verbally committed to Ron Zook and University of Illinois.

Billy Garrett has continued to hit the streets of Chicago hard as he picked up high major center Jawan Nelson.  The 6’10” 245 lbs Bloom Township post verballed to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last week.

Verdell Jones III recently picked up an offer from Oklahoma after Coach Capel visited a Champaign Central open gym.  The 6’5″ point guard has set a visit there for November 10th.  North Carolina and Texas have also increased their interest in Jones.

Southern Illinois-Edwardsville has picked up their level of interest in 6’5″ Champaign Central guard Donald Stewart.

5’9″ A.J. Rompza of Whitney Young has verbally committed to Central Florida.

Notre Dame has offered St. Joseph scorer Diamond Taylor.  This is the 6’2″ guard’s second Big East offer as Marquette has already extended a scholarship.  This past weekend Taylor visited the Fighting Irish alongside 2009 classmates Chris Colvin and Jordan Prosser.

Diamond to Stay

Contrary to our last entry we would like to correct our record and state that Diamond Taylor will remain at St. Joseph.  In speaking with Taylor he stated, “my parents thought about it and they decided it would be better for me to stay as far as keeping my reputation high and keeping colleges after me….so I’m staying.”
